Rome: Hundreds of protesters on Thursday July 7 from different cities of Italy gathered in Rome and marked a rally protesting Kuchi invasion of Behsud killing over 20 vulnerable villagers, Karzai ethnocentrism and mum by international community.

The protesters displaying placards chanted slogans against the Karzai Government for backing armed Kuchis and demanded of the coalition forces in Afghanistan to immediately disarm the so-called nomads. The placards included “Karzai to resign”, “stop Hazara massacre”, “We want justice” and others.

Organizers of the protest, Committee Against Nomadism and Forceful Displacement told that the Embassy of Afghanistan had asked Police not to allow protesters getting near to the Embassy. It condemned the behavior of Afghan Embassy saying that it tried to avoid their basic democratic right–to protest.

The speakers including Basir Ahang, Latif Talash and Ismaili strongly condemned the Kuchi invasion of Behsud burning down homes of thousands of families. They highly criticized Karzai Government for backing armed Kuchis so as to gain vote bank among his Pushtoon fellows at the cost of ethnocentrism. They said “The Defense Minister, Rahim Wardak is from Wardak Province where Behsud is situated and he backs armed Kuchis–who are trained fighters–to make Hazaras leave their centuries ancestral land”.

The speakers strongly demanded of the international community and particularly the Government of their host country, Italy to raise voice against Karzai ethnocentrism and disarm all the Kuchis putting an end to nomadism as it has been used as a political card centuries ago.
